9:00 AM Service in new temporary location for the construction period

Exciting times are upon us at Christ Church Glendale as we see construction beginning. We are celebrating final uses of spaces and anticipating a spectacular new building. In the meantime, we have the opportunity to work together and to support one another during the construction period.

Sharing and using the same worship space will require some changes to our long-established traditions, especially for the 9:00 AM congregation. The 9:00 AM service in its temporary location has been carefully considered and planned by a subcommittee of the Worship Commission. Some changes are necessary because of the shape and construction of the church. Others present themselves as opportunities that could not be done in the previous worship space. For instance, we now have a new and very modern hearing loop for those with hearing aids in the church. This will be duplicated in the worship and gathering spaces of the new building. This system will require us to be intentional about using microphones during all services. There are a number of other changes that you may notice and some you may not.

Because we are sharing the space in a new way, those who arrive early for the 9:00 AM service may find that the 8:00 Eucharist is still in worship. Please be considerate of the needs of others and then be ready for the quick transformation of the space shortly before 9:00 AM. (Once we are in full construction and All Saints Hall is gone, the Children’s Chapel will continue to be available as a gathering spot, accessible through the Columbarium, for anyone waiting for the next service.)

Your flexibility and sense of adventure as we enter this phase will be important elements as we gather together. Let’s try it and see! With change come anxiety and not a little fear. This is natural and to be expected. Please be assured that the leadership of Christ Church welcomes your comments and suggestions as we worship together in the church and work together as Christ’s body in the world.
